Michael John Hiller

Michael (Mike) Hiller, age 72 of Manton, passed away to his home in heaven, surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Mike was born on February 11, 1946 in Cadillac, Michigan to Joseph and Winnie (Older) Hiller. Mike married Patricia Valle on August 14, 1971 in Cadillac, Michigan. They have two Children and seven Grandchildren.
Mike was a graduate of McBain High School and shortly after that was deployed to Vietnam where he served in the US Army. Mike worked as a part-time deputy for the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department while also working for Consumers Power Company. He then became a licensed electrician, which became his life-long career. Mike also worked as an electrical inspector for Kalkaska County.
Outside of work, Mike spent his time coaching various sports teams including one year of varsity basketball in Manton. He was avidly involved in his children’s athletic careers and carried the same enthusiasm over to his grandchildren. Whether he spent his time watching his grandkids play sports, going for rides in the golf cart, or teaching them some work related skills in his barn, he was always involved.
Mike will be remembered for having a great sense of humor and known for playing lots of pranks on family and friends. Mike will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We will also deeply miss his presence at Manton Ranger basketball games sitting next to his buddy Mel.
