Obituary For Mary Lou Schut

Mary Lou Schut age 85 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by her children. She was born to Arthur and Lillian (Johnson) Greve on August 21, 1938 in Manistee, MI. Mary Lou entered into marriage with Jay Schut on November 9, 1956, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2016.
Mary Lou was a farm lady, she enjoyed baling hay, and lambing baby lambs, as well as gardening and canning. Mowing her lawn was her favorite thing to do next to driving her golf cart around the farm giving tours to people. She enjoyed other hobbies such as crocheting, knitting and looming rugs. She served in various roles outside of the home, she worked as a nurse at the Medical Arts office for many years, as well as serving as Lake Township Clerk for several years. Mary Lou was a lifetime member of the Rehoboth Church of Lucas and was part of the Women’s Ministries that were associated with the church.
She is survived by her three children Randy Schut of Lake City, Duane Schut of Lake City and Shelly Beerens of Lake City, grandchildren; April Kuiper of Anchorage, AK, Colin Schut of Lake City, and Derrick (Sarah) Schut of Cheboygan, and seven grand-grandchildren, in-laws; Janice (Ron) Scott of Cadillac, and Kathy Schut of Traverse City as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Bruce Beerens, siblings; Jane Krause, Jack Greve, and Robert Greve as well as many in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Ken DeZeeuw officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will take place in the Richland Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the McBain Community Building following the service, memorial contributions can be made out to Friends Ministry.
