Obituary For Dianna Sue Herringa

Dianna Sue Herringa, age 82, a lifelong resident of Cadillac passed away on November 20, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1941 in Cadillac to Louis and Margaret (Champayne) Herringa. Dianna retired from Mercy Hospital’s kitchen service after many years. She was an interesting and eccentric person, pursuing many hobbies and collecting rocks, books, folk art, and figurines. She loved the circus and elephants. The more unusual something was, the more she liked it. She was artistic, often turning the mundane into something special with her camera lens. More than anything, she was a friend to every animal she encountered. She especially loved cats and small dogs, proving shelter and a great home to many throughout her life. She was loved and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her siblings; Michael Herringa of Cadillac, Patrick (Judith) Herringa of Cadillac, Sarah Maddox of Traverse City, and Carol (Tim) Bradley of Grand Haven, sister in-law Jan Herringa of Lake Ann, and special niece Julie Herringa of Cadillac, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents, brothers; Daniel and John Herringa, sisters; Judy (Pete) Crow, Kathleen (Roy) Post, sister in-law Jenny Herringa, brother in-law; Robert Maddox.

She will have a graveside service in spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations to local animal shelters are encouraged. The Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain is handling the arrangements, the online obituary can be seen at burkholderfunerals.com

Remember being a kid living next her. I used go with her and her dogs for walks. I remember the time she had me dog sit while she was gone for a few days. She always had a smile on her face. She was always good to people. R. I. P. Dianna see you on the other side.

I have such fond memories of Aunt Dianna. She was funny, kind, patient and fiercely independent. I remember as kids, my brothers and I going on many adventures with her, from digging up old bottles to blue berry picking to going to the Cadillac fair every year. She was one of a kind, and she will be sorely missed. Rest in peace dear Aunt Dianna.

Diane was a good person. Worked hard at the hospital. She was always kind to the patients when she brought them trays, etc. Often we'd run into each other down by the lake - me jogging, her walking 3 . We both enjoyed being outdoors. Pat gable

I worked with Dianna for a lot of years. She was truly a joy to work with. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved all of her fur babies. You could find her either walking her dogs or seeing them riding with in her truck. She will be very missed. My thoughts are with her family💕

Dianna was someone you could always depend on. She had a strong sense of right and wrong. she had great faith. She was an advocate for those (people and animals) mistreated or neglected. She was brave and strong and unafraid to give voice to the truth. She was a hard worker and a great joy to work with. She added color to every day and her energy was inexhaustible. She is with God and lived a life worth remembering. Thank you, Diana, you were a true gift.
