Obituary For Eleanor N. Ebels

Eleanor N. Ebels age 96 of Falmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Quiet Creek AFC home in Falmouth on Sunday, March 3, 2024. She was born in Aetna Township on June 10, 1927 to Garrett and Katie (Mulder) Marcusse. In June of 1947 she entered into marriage with Dennis Ebels at Prosper CRC.

Eleanor was a worker; she and her husband Dennis owned and operated the Prosper Store located at the Prosper Corners; Eleanor was also the clerk at the Falmouth Post Office for many years. She was member of the Prosper Christian Reformed Church and volunteered in many ways in the community such as Friends Ministry and the Falmouth Youth Show. When she wasn’t volunteering or working; she was spending her time gardening and canning those foods she harvested. She loved being in the outdoors doing things such as walking and going fishing in the Upper Peninsula with her husband Dennis.

She is survived by her children; Dan Ebels, Keith (Aldyne) Ebels, Mike (Kim) Ebels, and Juliann (Dan) Tacoma, grandchildren; Kyla (Sean) Ebels Duggan, Eric (Marta) Ebels, Lauren Ebels (Javin Unger), Kelly (Doug) Phelps, Kari (Kyle) Treadway, Kimber (Ryan) Westmaas, Darcy (Kyle) Moore, and Caleb (Amy) Tacoma, and 12 great grandchildren, in-laws; Jeanette Ebels, Carl Brinks, and Bob (Carol) Dice, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis Ebels, sisters; Henrietta (Al) Nederhoed, Edna Brinks, Leah Dice, brothers Marvin Marcusse and Hank (Annetta) Marcusse, in-laws; John (Grace) Ebels, Pete Ebels, Tressa (Frank) Westveer, Cornelia (John) Hoekwater, and great-grandson Wilhelm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9 at the Prosper Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jim DeZeeuw officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service at the church. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the church. Burial has taken place in the Prosper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Prosper Christian Reformed Church. Funeral arrangements have been made by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home of McBain.
