Helen Louise Van Haitsma age 92 of Falmouth passed away on April 6, 2024 at Quiet Creek in Falmouth. Louise was born on November 13, 1931 in Clam Union Township to William and Alice (Molhoek) Riedel. She married Bernard “Bud” Van Haitsma on December 1, 1951 at the Falmouth Reformed Church and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2011.

Louise was a member of the Clam River Chapel. She had worked at Ebels in Falmouth for many years as a clerk and merchandise stocker. She loved to go for drives, went to the Golden Agers at Merritt, was an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Tigers. She loved going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her children; Karen (Lee) Curtis and Bruce Van Haitsma both of McBain, daughter-in-law; Joy A. Van Haitsma of McBain, brothers; Jim (Connie) Riedel of Clare and Kenneth (Rosemary) Riedel of Clio, grandchildren; Shawn ( fiancee Lisa) Curtis of McBain, Nicole (Billy) Conway of Lake City, James Van Haitsma of McBain, and Amanda (Ethan) Earnest of Midland, great grandchildren; Elwyn Earnest of Midland, Ashton Conway and Olivia Conway both of Lake City, and sisters-in-law; Delores Brannam of Falmouth, Phyllis Birtles of McBain and Elaine (Rex) Rozelle of Hudson.

Louise was preceded in death by; two sons; Steve and Dale Van Haitsma, in-laws; Herman Van Haitsma, Marvin Brannam, Dale Birtles, and Marian (Bob) Jenema.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Clam River Chapel in Falmouth with Rev. Stephen Chapman officiating and burial will take place in the Falmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and one hour prior to services at the church.
