Obituary For Carol Mary Hoffman

Carol Mary Hoffman age 79 of Falmouth, went home to be with her Lord on April 9, 2024. Carol was born on December 25, 1944 to Jake and Alice Wonsey and was one of nine siblings.

Her father Jake always said she was very special since she was born in a school house on Christmas Day. Carol graduated from McBain Rural Agricultural School and then married Clarence Hoffman on June 27, 1964. She was also a member of the Clam River Chapel in Falmouth.

Carol worked at Duane’s Restaurant in Falmouth for 29 years, there she made pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, bread and tons of buns. She shared a very special bond with all of the people she worked with throughout her years at the restaurant. She loved to cook for family, friends and the community. Carol and Clarence would have 4th of July cookouts at their home where family and friends would come and gather for fellowship and fireworks.

She opened their home to family for huge Christmas dinners for all to celebrate the holiday season. Carol is and will always be known for her pies. She enjoyed painting ceramics for many years. She also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels from the feeders that Clarence had made for them. She loved when family would stop and say hello, she loved to have visitors. Clarence and Carol never had children but they showed great love for all their nieces and nephews. She had such a generous heart and soul.

Carol is survived by her sister Grace Dykhouse, brother Ronald “Butch” Wonsey, and sister Margaret Lucas, very special nephew Dale (Cheryl) Westdorp, sister in-law Barbra Wonsey, brother’s in-law, Ray Harris and Richard Racine, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, brothers George Wonsey, Donald Wonsey, sisters Marjorie Racine, Myrtle Harris, Joyce Lamphere, brother’s in-law Henry Dykhouse, Richard “Dick” Lucas, Devere “Dee” Lamphere, sister’s in-law Monika Wonsey and Sharon Wonsey.

Funeral services will take place at 11 AM on Saturday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Rev. Stephen Chapman and Rev. Steve Boven officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will take place in the Mount View Cemetery of McBain. A luncheon will take place at the McBain Community Center. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clam River Chapel.     My condolences to all of Carol's family. She was a lovely lady. It was at the Chapel in Falmouth that I got to know her a bit and found out she was a Christmas "Carol". 🥰 So sweet. Again, so sorry for the loss.
