Obituary For Morris James Dieterman

Morris James Dieterman age 93 went home to be with his Lord on Christmas Day 2023 at Quiet Creek AFC in Falmouth. He was born on January 4, 1930 in Riverside Township, Missaukee County to William and Hattie (Stryker) Dieterman. He married Trena Dodde on June 23, 1952 at the Dodde family home in Clam Union Township (Vogel Center) she preceded Morris in death on October 14, 2013.

After graduation he served in the US Army as a Corporal from 1952 to 1954. He had worked at Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids, Wolverine Shoe Company and had been a dairy farmer from 1955 to 2000. After his retirement he served the local Amish community. He had driven school bus for McBain Public School district from 1969 to 1996. He enjoyed playing euchre, watching the Tigers, Michigan State University Football and the Detroit Lions.

He is survived by his children; Lugene (Kay) Dieterman of Thonotosassa, Florida, Marla (Ken) Heuker of McBain, Leann (Steve) Booms of Cadillac, Jerri (Joey) Lamb of Saugatuck, Von (Jim) Flynn of Grand Rapids, and a deceased daughter, Jodi Dieterman, Grandchildren; Matthew (Kayla) Wier, Brandon (Sarah) Dieterman, Brandie (Kyle) Bateman, Torey Pichot, Kade Perrigo, Kevin (friend Angie) Heuker, Stephanie (Corey) Adkins, Kimberly (Jon) Engelhard, Rhonda (Will) Shemer, Shannon (James) Brookshire, Katie (Nathan) Slavin, Jenna (Randy) Karim, Maclain Wiltzer (significant other Yasmin Rodriquez), Aaron Malone and Erik Malone, 27 great grandchildren, sisters; Wilma Dodde of Grosse Ile and Julia Dieterman of Azle, Texas.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Mika Marie Malone, sisters; Verna (Garry) Baas and Elaine Dieterman, nephew; Arthur Dodde, in-laws; Marvin Dodde, Andrew Dodde, Josie Dodde, Harm (Gen) Dodde, and Alice (Lewis) VanHuizen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Rev. Steve Chapman officiating with burial in the Riverside Township Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the services on Thursday. A meal will follow at the McBain Community Building. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Northern Michigan Christian School or the Clam River Chapel.
