Obituary For Carol C. Etherton

Carol C. Etherton age 89 of Falmouth, peacefully passed away in her home on February 10, 2024. Carol was born December 1, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Russell and Roseann Channer. On May 16, 1965 she married John Wayne Etherton in St. Clair Shores.

She lived a long and full life, she spent several years of her life living in Whitemore Lake, MI where she raised her children. Carol spent some of her retired life in the mountains of North Carolina where she and her husband Wayne built a home together. Their adventures eventually lead them to Florida where Carol was a lifeguard for many years, she loved swimming and was very good at it. When she wasn’t in the pool, she could be found on the golf course or riding around on her motorcycle. Little known fact was during this time Carol was known as “Jingles” and occasionally “Bubbles”. Jingles or Carol as most know her, went through clown school in Lady Lake Florida to be able to hone her clown skills to better serve those in the nursing homes.

Eventually Carol moved to Falmouth, MI to be closer to her kids and grandkids in the area. This is where her love and passion for riding horses and competing in horse shows began. This was a deeply rooted passion, one she quickly passed and shared with her granddaughters Katrina and Jamie. She enjoyed trail riding, pleasure shows, team penning, and speed shows. These speed shows are where she excelled and filled her home with ribbons, trophies and plaques. She was able to do this with her treasured horse Comet. She only stopped riding at the age of 76 when the doctors and Janice forced her to!

Carol also had a love for painting, anything from oil paints to ceramics and man was she good at it. She spent several years volunteering to teach 4-H kids to paint ceramics. Carol could make small talk and friends anywhere she went, it didn’t take people who met her long to figure out she was kind and friendly, but she was the type to take no-bull.

Carol is survived by her children; John Etherton, Janice (Jim Welch), grandchildren; John Hines, Jason (Brittany) Etherton, Josh Etherton, James Etherton, Tony Simon Jr., Bridget (Chris) Goss, Katrina Simon, Connie Daugherity, Jamie (Chris) Richards, Jessica Moreno and many great-grandkids. Those not named are by no-means forgotten.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved children; Robert H. Watts and Dorothy M. Simon, father Russell Channer, dad Robert Wagner, husband John Wayne Etherton, Mother Roseann Wagner, sister June Schuler, son in-law Tony Simon, and daughter in-law Debra Etherton.

We will carry you with us in our hearts forever, you taught us all many things, except how to live without you.

There will be no services held at this time. In lieu of flowers the family ask’s that you complete a random act of kindness in Carol’s name. Arrangements have been made by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. Thoughts and prayers can be expressed by visiting the online obituary at burkholderfamilyfuneralhome.com
