James Meyering

James (Jim) Meyering, age 88, of Jenison, MI (formerly of McBain, MI) went home to be with his Lord on June 16, 2018 at the age of 88 at the Brook of Big Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane of 60 years, his parents, brothers, Albert, Henry, and Harold, a sister, Elsie Schaaf and an infant sister Elizabeth. He is survived by three sons, Gregory Meyering of Branch, MI,  Daniel and Rebecca Meyering, (Quinn), Elizabeth, and Steve Schmitt (Kristina & Max), Thomas Meyering in the U.S. Navy,  Bradley & Deborah Meyering of Canadian Lakes, Mi. (Tracie & Darren Clark) & Matthew Meyering, Todd & Cathy Meyering of Grand Rapids, Bobby deceased (Breianna & Lindsey), step grandchildren, Jennifer Peacock (Elana & Emma), Jessie Morton deceased  (Benny & Sofia).Brothers and sisters in law, Edward (Edith) Meyering, Betty Meyering all of the McBain area and Donald (Eldyne) Richardson of Noblesville, Indiana.
Jim served in the Korean War with the US Army, 3rd Division and was awarded the bronze star medal for Meritorious Service. He retired in 1995 from Chemical Bank after working there for 37 years. He served on various boards like, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Board of Education, United Fund, and 65 years as a member of the McBain Christian Reformed Church serving as elder, deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. After moving to Jenison they joined the Fairway Christian Reformed Church. Friends and relatives may meet the family in the narthex of the Fairway Christian Reformed Church 1165 44th Street, Jenison, MI. from 4:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday.  Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, with the Rev. Ed Tamminga officiating. Burial will take place at the Mount View Cemetery at McBain. Memorial contributions may be made to Rotary International or United Fund.
