Juanita Mae Farr

MCBAIN - Juanita Mae Farr, 80, of McBain passed away at Autumnwood of McBain on
Jan. 12, 2018
She was born on October 16, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to Gerald Lorraine and Lila Annetta
(Curtis) Carlington. She married Donald Lee Farr on December 23, 1958 in Northville, Michigan.
She was employed as a waitress until she began working at the Cadillac State Bank in Marion.
She ended her career at the branch in Cadillac as an assistant auditor.
She attended the Lake City Community Church of Christ. During her working years she was a
member of the Cadillac Professional Women's Club, and became president. Juanita was a co-
founder of Missaukee Cooperative Ministries. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital for nine years
and became president of that organization. She was on the Recipient Rights board as member
and chair for Northern Lakes Community Mental Health for 19 years. She supported Camp
Cadillac where she had a garden dedicated to her. She bowled on a league for a few years and
volunteered with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of McBain and her daughter Kimberly Sue (Barry)
Meyering also of McBain. Three granddaughters, Tara Kei (Darin) Parr of Lansing, Tabitha Noel
(Nick) McKenzie of Sanford, and Emma Elese Meyering (Austin Reed) of Lake City. Two great-
grandaughters, Taylor Elese Meyering-Maury and Scarlett Eve McKenzie. A sister, Audrey Kaye
Sladek of Traverse City and brother, Brian Gerald (Mairi) Carlington of South Boardman. In-laws,
Charles and Marian Farr of McBain and many nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Karl Lee Carlington and Marlene Rae
Phillips; brothers-in-law, Joe Sladek and Jim Bush. Mother- and father-in-law; Charles and
Beulah Farr. Sister- and brother-in-law; Mary Lou (Henry) Keehn.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Rev. Larry Beaverson officiating. Burial will take place in the Mount View Cemetery in McBain in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan. Thoughts and prayers may be left at
