Nora LaForest

Nora LaForest, age 97, of Cadillac, passed away on Oct. 23, 2017 at Green Acres Assisted Living where she had been residing the last 6 months. She was a longtime Lake City resident and was born on March 21, 1920, in Widnes, England to Daniel and Florence Martin. Nora married Ernest Joseph LaForest on August 14, 1944 in Widnes, England and he preceded her on August 20, 1987. Nora graduated from high school in England at the age of 14. She married her husband during World War II and then moved to the United States. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring and raising her family. She enjoyed crafting, reading, and knitting. She had bowled and played golf in her younger years. She is survived by four children, Wayne Reed (Martha) LaForest of Cape Coral, Florida, Ronnie Martin LaForest of Lake City, Patricia Adele (Gary) Schwach of Cadillac and Linda Irene LaForest and her fiancé John Nutt of Empire. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Nora’s daughter in law is Denise LaForest TenHouten of Cadillac. One sister surviving is Beryl Jones and her children, Chris Jones and Ted (Sue) Jones and their two children all of Lake City. Many other relatives survive here in the US and in England. Preceding her in death was a son Alan John (Darlene) LaForest, her husband Ernest, her parents, Daniel & Florence Martin and a granddaughter, Nicolle Marie Kress. The family will have a memorial gathering for relatives and close friends at the home of her daughter, Gary & Pat Schwach, on Nov. 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.
