Richard Simons

Richard Amil Simons, age 69, of Leroy, passed away at his home in Hartwick Township, Osceola County, on October 9, 2017, with his family at his side. He was born on March 23, 1948 to Carl Dale Simons and Ardena Lucille (Nelson) Simons in Big Rapids, Michigan. He married Sheryl Ann Sergent on May 16, 1995 in Angola, Indiana. Richard was employed for many years as the general manager at the Michigan Livestock in Marion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for antiques, and collecting old car collectables. His hobby and work was building hot rods and went all over the state to car sales and car shows. He had also worked at heavy road construction downstate. He was a Veteran of the US Army and while in the service he worked as an electrician. He and his wife were members of the Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife Sheryl of LeRoy, his children, John A. (Kerry) Simons, grandsons, Richard & Tim Moran and a great grandson, Brent Moran all of Marion, Amy S. (Mike) McClelen of Marion, grandson, Anthony (Autumn)Abernathy, great grandson, Xavier Powers of Mt. Pleasant, grandson, Spec 4 JonTe (Morgan),  Abernathy, US Army Base in Germany, granddaughter, TeAnna Simons of Marion, great granddaughter, Gabryela A. Simons of Marion, grandsons, Aiden Simons and Noah Simons both of Marion and granddaughter, Veda Simons of Marion, Holly A. (Andrew) Wagner of North Carolina, grandson, Maxamis Wagner and granddaughter, Anathea Wagner both of North Carolina, Bruce James (Kate) Aittama, granddaughter, Addison Aittama and grandson, Callen Aittama all of Greenville, Andrew (Eve) Aittama, granddaughter, Aubriana Aittama and grandson Ezekial Aittama all of North Carolina. His surviving siblings are, Jackie (Clair) Howe of Mason, Mitch (Eve) Simons of Eaton Rapids, Jim Simons of Onadaga, Shirley (Alex) Mueller of Jackson, Charles Simons, Daniel Simons and John Simons all of Onadaga, a special nephew, Jamie (Kimberly)  Latoski  and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00P.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church with Rev. Steve Boven officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
