Obituary For Richard Jon Geeseman

Richard Jon Geeseman age 70 of McBain passed away on March 24, 2025 at Corwell Health in Grand Rapids. Dick was born on May 17, 1954 in Cadillac to William and Marie (Barber) Geeseman. He married Judy Lamphere on April 9, 1977 and she preceded him in death on December 12, 1989. Dick married Karen M. Kasarskis on June 30, 1990 at the McBain Baptist Church.

Dick had worked for McBain DPW for over 30 years where he served as the sexton to the Mount View Cemetery and worked as a volunteer for the McBain Fire Department. He attended the Church of Discovery in Cadillac. He loved mowing lawn, working with horses, being involved in town news and Dutch Bingo. He always enjoyed going to Kelley’s in McBain for coffee and going on nature rides with his wife Karen.

Dick is survived by his wife; Karen M. Geeseman of McBain, children; Jere (Stephanie) Geeseman of Birch Run, Kellie (Jason) Roderick of McBain, Joy Geeseman of Cadillac, Kari Parks of Cadillac, Katie (Matt) Leusby of Big Rapids, and Jamie (John) Stanhope of Marion, grandchildren; Justin, Marissa, Hayden, Zane, Jovi, Nori, Cayson, Kyler, Brooklynn, Payton, and McCoy, great granddaughter; (Marlow) , siblings; Gay (Don) Anger of Midland, Judy Sutter of Cadillac, and Carol (Bob) Sandelius of Cadillac, In-laws; Jill Geeseman of McBain, Lorna Geeseman of Grand Rapids, Larry (Gerry) Spofford of Muskegon, Jeanne (Steve) Czapek of McBain, and Dan (Melissa) Kasarskis of Irons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jim Geeseman and Bill Geeseman, baby sister; Joy Geeseman, brother-in-law; Harold Sutter, uncle and aunt; Frank and Mamie Geeseman and cousins; Verl and Dora Cramer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Rev. Maureen Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church and burial will be made in the Mount View Cemetery at McBain. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Discovery in Cadillac.     I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Dick when I went to work at Kelley's so many years ago. He was always joking and laughing. He was caring when I lost my sister. He had a big heart and smile to go with it. This world needs more like him.
