Obituary For Peggy Ann Bazuin

Peggy Ann Bazuin of Cadillac and Tustin, passed from this life to the next on July 19, 2024, following complications from a stroke. She was 67.

Peggy was born on July 15, 1957, in Grand Rapids, to Harold and Ruth (Boven) Bazuin. She graduated from McBain High School in 1975 and worked briefly at St. John’s Furniture in Cadillac. In 1976, Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Mark Dore, at the Highland Christian Reformed Church in Marion. They brought three children into the world together: William, Jessica, and Leeta. Peggy and Mark divorced after 20 years of marriage.

Peggy returned to the workforce, ultimately becoming an insurance agent in Marion and later in Cadillac. She retired a few years ago.
Peggy loved to quilt; quilting retreats were a highlight of her later years, both for the crafting and for the fellowship with other quilters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and found them quite entertaining. Peggy also loved to sing, including as a member of Praise 9, and enjoyed reconnecting with cousins at Boven and Bazuin family reunions.

Peggy is survived by her children: Bill Dore, Jes (Fitz) Fitzgerald; and Leeta Dore, who held her mother’s hand as she met her Lord and Savior. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Piper (Dennis) Beals; Tristan & Logen Dore; Johannah, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Elisha, & Nathan Fitzgerald; her great grandson: Jaxon Beals; her mother: Ruth; her siblings: Kathy Warren (who was at Peggy’s side the last two weeks), Dan Bazuin, Mary Beth Hill, & Doug (Michael) Schiazza; her boyfriend: Howard Schultz; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold, and her brothers-in-law, Bill Warren & Steve Hill.

A Celebration of Life visitation will take place on Sunday, July 28 from 2 to 5pm, at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. Memorial contributions can be made out to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain is handling the arrangements. Thoughts and prayers can be expressed by visiting the online obituary at burkholderfamilyfuneralhome.com

Condolences

I was saddened to hear of Peggy's passing. I went to school with her from 1st grade through 12th. She was a kind and happy person and remained that way in the years that followed. Whenever I would run into her in town or at a craft show, Peggy always welcomed me with her warm smile. She always had time to chat for a few minutes and share stories of her kids and grand children. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are for her family and loved ones. Mary Gilde

We at the quilt retreats will miss seeing you. We were worried about you the weekend that you were in the hospital not knowing what was going on. You never missed a retreat. You were a very special person and a Christian witness to those who came in contact with. You will be missed. Delores Peterson
