Obituary For Mark Alan Smithee

Mark Alan Smithee, of Englewood, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Lake City, Michigan. He was 71. Mark was born on April 5,1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Bernard and Margaret (Willis) Smithee. He married Kelly Anne Kline on March 23, 1996 in Cadillac.

Mark loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could hunting, fishing, and hiking with his dog. He also had a late-in-life passion for wood turning and spent many nights in his garage workshop working on the lathe making personalized pieces.

Mark is survived by his wife, Kelly, of Englewood, Florida, sisters-in-law, Louise Kline, of Lake City, Suzie (Glenn) Thompson, of Big Rapids, Tina (Michael) Hanbury, of Lake City, and brother-in-law, Johnny Kline, of Rapid City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Margaret; mother-in-law, Lucille Kline; and brothers-in-law, Randy Kline and Scott (Boz) Kline.

Mark will be deeply missed by his family and friends and his “Baby Girl Dog” Greta.

Graveside services for Mark will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lake City East Cemetery in Lake City, Michigan with Pastor Herb Helsel officiating. Memorial contributions can be made out the Missaukee Humane Society. The family is being served by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain, Michigan.     So sorry for your loss Kelly! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Mark was the first to lend a hand for anything we needed, especially huricane clean-up.
