James Terry Riedel, age 90 of Clare passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, November 2, 2024. James was born on June 13, 1934 in Falmouth to William and Alice (Molhoek) Riedel. On March 16, 1962 James entered into marriage with Connie Swan at the Falmouth Reformed Church.
James was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed all that nature offered, including hunting, fishing, camping and trapping. He was a member of the Leaton United Methodist Church. He was also an active Merchant Marine.
James is survived by his children Lorie Sue Riedel of Clare, Kimberlee Marie Krchmar also of Clare and Brian Duane (Kathy) Riedel of Marion, eight grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; Joseph Riedel, Travis (Jennifer) Krchmar, Ray McCall esq., LeAnn (James) Welch, Tiffany Heidger, Matthew McCall, Michael (Samantha) Douglas, and Rossi (Shakotah) Blanka, and one great-great grandchild, brother Kenny (Rosemary) Riedel of Clio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie Riedel, sister Louise (Bud) VanHaitsma, nephews Steve and Dale VanHaitsma, and Lori’s significant other; Rick Benchley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Leaton United Methodist Church at Leaton with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Lunch will be held following the service at the church.
