Obituary For Harvey "Harv" Richard Pluger

Harvey Richard Pluger, age 76 of McBain passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1948 in Cadillac to Arthur and Elizabeth (Ellens) Pluger. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. On April 3, 1976 he entered into marriage with Thelma “Skip” Schipper in Grand Rapids.

Harv worked at the McBain Building Products for 28 years, after retiring from there he worked at NAPA Auto Parts Store for 6 years, even working up until the day before he passed. He enjoyed attending sporting events for his grandchildren, woodworking and was a member of the Rehoboth Reformed Church of Lucas.

Harv is survived by his wife; Thelma “Skip” Pluger of McBain, children; Jennifer (Chad) Davis of Howard City, Jeff (Diana) Pluger of McBain, Jessica Mattison of McBain and son in-law Jeremiah Johnson of McBain, grandchildren; Ryleigh and Kayleigh Davis, Mikayla and Mariah Pluger, Logan, Karly and Allison Mattison, Justin, Jamie and Josh Johnson, and expecting a great-granddaughter any day, siblings; Leone DeYoung of Jenison, Hermina “Mike” (Dave) Sjoerdsma of Jenison, Marge (Dale) Brinks of Cadillac, Jean (Karl) Webster of Tustin, in-laws; Jeanette Haglund of Texas, Wayne (Sandy) Schipper of Hudsonville, Carla (Michael ) Seaton of Kentwood, and many other surviving relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie Ann Johnson, siblings; Judy (Gary) DeHaan, in-laws Robert DeYoung.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Rev. Kevin Schutt officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 PM at the church, burial will take place in the Richland Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow after the service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made out to the National Marrow Donor Program at 500 N. 5th Street. Minneapolis, MN 55401. Always a pleasure talking to him when I went to NAPA, he always came around the corner to ask what my family and I were up to then when I asked about his, boy did he light up and give me the run down. Harv was a nice person and always a good chatter. We went on a couple Sr. Bus trips with him and Skip as well as some day trips. He was pleasant to be around and will most certainly be missed. My deepest sympathy to all his wonderful family.
