Harriet Gertrude Borgman age 91 of Jenison and formerly of McBain passed away on October 25, 2024 at Sunset Manor in Jenison. Harriet was born on March 27, 1933 in Richland Township on the family farm to Walter and Stena (Kuiper) Ostindie. She married John Borgman on November 18, 1960 at the McBain Christian Reformed Church and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1984.

Harriet received her BA degree from Calvin College and had taught elementary students at the Northern Michigan Christian School in McBain for over 38 years. After retirement she continued to volunteer for seven years. She was a member of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Study Club and was active in all of the church activities. She enjoyed doing cross stitch, needle work, quilting, reading, flower gardening and volunteering where needed.

She is survived by nieces and nephews; special niece, Lois Bouma of Byron Center, Ruth Ann Deming of Hastings, James Ostindie of Grandville, and Scott (Nancy) Ostindie of Kentwood, special friends; Craig and Cynda Pollington of Marion, Craig and Amy Vredevoogd of McBain and Gloria Groner of Byron Center also many other close friends.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, siblings; Edwin (Jeanette) Ostindie, Thomas (Thresa) Ostindie, Ann (Jake) Bouma, Clara Ostindie, Marie (Gerriet VanderWal), and Marjorie Ostindie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Lucas Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Ken Koning officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Mount View Cemetery in McBain. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvin Christian Reformed Church or Northern Michigan Christian School.
