Charles Junior Dykhouse age 86 of Cadillac and formerly of McBain, passed away at Wexford Senior Care Center in Cadillac on November 5, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1939 in Riverside Township, Missaukee County to Peter H. and Catherine (Dykstra) Dykhouse. He married Sandra Kay Fisk in Traverse City on April 9, 1966 and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2003.
Charles had worked as a roofer in the construction trades for Allied Roofing and J&L Roofing, Woodland Roofing, and Peninsula Roofing. and worked in hot tar and gravel. He worked two years for Pete Bonteko. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, ice skating, the outdoors, walking in the woods, two tracking and loved to read throughout his life. Charles was known for his kind heart and would give anyone the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his siblings; Margaret DeRuiter of Howard City, Martha Nelson of Anchorage, Alaska, Nancy Boven of Rockford, and Peter (Mary) Dykhouse of Manton, in-laws; Grace Dykhouse of McBain and Linda Dykhouse of Cadillac.
He was preceded in death by his siblings; Henry Dykhouse, Anna Kay and Richard Miller, Mildred and Joe Decator, Paul Dykhouse, and in-laws; Glen DeRuiter, Danny Nelson and Merlin “Merk” Boven, and niece Sunday Ann Crosslan.
Special thanks to his brother in-law Bill Coffel and nephew Sam Coffel for the care they gave him, as well as the staff members of Wexford Senior Care Center.
Burial will take place in the Haring Township Cemetery next to his wife Sandra Kay Dykhouse. Per Charles wishes no services will be held.
