Obituary For Allen Howard Vance

Allen Howard Vance, age 85 of McBain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Tustin House of Tustin. He was born on September 30, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan to Harold and Dora (Irene) Vance. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966. During this time, he married Lona Jean Nelson on January 16, 1965.

In 1972 Allen (Al) and his family moved from Ortonville, Michigan to McBain, Michigan where he raised his family on a small horse farm. Al worked for 30 years at Cadillac Rubber and Plastics/Avon Automotive in Cadillac until he retired in 2002. Al had a tremendous love for his family and cherished any time that was spent together. In addition to his family, he enjoyed many years raising and training horses and hunting, especially pheasant and deer.

Al is survived by his wife Lona, of McBain, children; Christa (Keith) Vance/Fedak of Pinconning, Lisa (Scott) Compton of McBain, Scott (Tracy) Vance of Falmouth, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and brother James Vance and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Dora (Irene) Vance, in-laws Arnold (Stoney) and Anna (Jean) Nelson, sisters Janet and Carol, brother and sister in-laws Garry, David and Angeline.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Northland Community Church in McBain. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Lunch will be held following the service at the church. Burial will be held at the Lucas Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Munson Hospice. The family is being served by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain.     I worked with Al a good number of years. He was always fun to be around. I always thought he could really tell a story, making it sound real even if it wasn't. I'll never forget the cat story, maybe some of you remember it, too. I think he enjoyed life. Gaylord Workman
