Alfred (Bud) Bode

Alfred (Bud) Bode age 90 of Cadillac passed away at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Alfred was born in Lucas, Michigan on October 12th, 1927 to John and Maggie (Grashuis) Bode. On October 26, 1949 he married Nella (VanderLugt) Bode in Cutlerville, Michigan. He dedicated his working days to the family farm and loved tilling the soil. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. Alfred had served in the US Army during World War II.
Alfred leaves behind his wife Nella Bode and children Diane (Dennis) Iler, Donald (Sandra) Bode, David John Bode (dec.),  Karen (Darryl) Petterson, Lavonne (Stan) Miller, Denise (Samuel) Yonkman, Duane Bode and his love (Kimberly Jordan), sister, Eleanor (Kerwin) Karsten, brother in-law Al DeBoer. 22 Grandchildren and 39 Great-Grandchildren.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie (Grashuis) Bode, great granddaughter, Lauren Warner, siblings Henrietta Bode, Alberta (Lawrence) Brunink, Esther (Ren) DeRuiter, Evelyn (Jake) Oudman, Louise (Harm) Lindemulder, Nora Mae (Pete) Kuipers, and Doris (DeBoer).
Visitation will take place Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain from 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday. Funeral services will be held at the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday with visitation an hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Kevin Schutt will officiate.  Burial will take place after the service at the Lucas Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be written out to After 26 Project, American Cancer Society, or Munson Hospice.      Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain.
