Jack Eugene Herweyer

Jack Eugene Herweyer, age 84, of McBain, passed away at Curry House Assisted Living at Cadillac on May 11, 1018 after a long battle with Lyme Disease. He was born on October 28, 1933 in Clam Union Township at the Herweyer family home to Jake G. and Dora (Modders) Herweyer. He married Esther Ann Bazuin on July 17, 1953 at the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church. Jack had worked in the construction industry, had driven truck and had painted lines on the roads. He attended the Northland Community Church. He had served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had traveled to all the states except Hawaii and had spent 11 winters in Mexico and in Oct. months they spent in Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Ann Herweyer of McBain, five children, Keith Alan (Nancy) Herweyer of Houston, Texas, Jerry Richard (Vikki) Herweyer of Powel, Wyoming, Carol Lynn (Bill) Warfield of Vogel Center, Doris Ann (Tom) Kelley of Cadillac, and Jon Eugene Herweyer of McBain. He has ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He has a brother, Rich Herweyer of McBain and step siblings, Rick (Judy) Maass of Houghton Lake, and a sister in law, Betty Tubergen of Cadillac. There are many nieces and nephew also surviving.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Orland (Eleanore) Herweyer, Jane (Ted) Agema, two twin sisters, Dorothy Herweyer and Ann Herweyer, step siblings, Don Maass, Engleburk Maass, and in laws Til Herweyer, Frank Westveer, Clarence Tubergen, Donald Bazuin, and Arnold Barb) Yarhouse.
Funeral services will be held at the Northland Community Church with Rev. David Smith at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Burial will take place in the Vogel Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard at 3:00 P.M. at the cemetery.  Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain is handling funeral arrangements and thoughts and prayers may be left at
