Virginia Ann DeHaan

Virginia Ann DeHaan, age 78, of Marion, passed away at her home on March 21, 2018. She was born on Oct. 18, 1939 in Marion Township to Lester and Margaret (Sharp) Alberts.  She married Gordon John DeHaan on Nov. 23, 1961 at the Marion Chapel.  Virginia worked in the lunch program at the Northern Michigan Christian School in McBain for over 25 years. She also worked in the lunch room at the Marion Livestock Sales for many years for the Willing Workers. She enjoyed crocheting, playing scrabble, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Highland Christian Reformed Church and loved sharing her Christian beliefs with all of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Gordon John DeHaan of Marion, three children, Kevin (Linda) DeHaan of Cadillac, Carolyn (Gary) Yonkman of McBain, and Brenda (Curt) Gregor of Reeseville, Wisconsin.  Her grandchildren are, Karli, Mikel, Alyssa, Ryan, Brittany, Taylor, Tyler, Jessica, Jaryd, Amanda, Sarah, and Tina, the great grandchildren are, Jason, Mason, and Jaxson. The surviving siblings are, Dawn Alberts of Marion, Kathy (Bill) Cross of Grand Rapids, Lavina (David) Blossom of California, Roy (Pat) Alberts of Mayville, and Jan Alberts of Marion, several in laws, Pete DeHaan of Marion, Jeanette Dick of Falmouth,  Sid DeHaan, Neal (Marilyn) DeHaan, Ruth Schuilling, Tena Fryling, and Esther Jourdan all of the Grand Rapids area. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lester Alberts, in laws, Bob (Julia) DeHaan, Sue Kiser, Ann Phillips and Margaret VanderHeide. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 11:00 A.M. at the Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain from 5:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. on Friday. Burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery in McBain.
