Henrietta M. Westmaas

Henrietta Mae Westmaas, age 79 of Marion, went home to be with her Lord on December 9, 2017 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was born on April 3, 1938, in Highland Township, Osceola County, to John G. & Jacoba (Fredricks) Lucas. She married Kenneth J. Westmaas on April 3, 1959 at the Highland Christian Reformed Church. She was a member of the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Ladies Aid. She had taught Sunday school for many years. She loved to take care of the grandkids and seeing her great grandkids. She loved flowers and having a flower garden in the summer along with her vegetable garden. She was a partner on the farm and did many different jobs alongside her husband. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Westmaas of Marion, her children, Wanda Westmaas of Sparta, Larry (Karen) Westmaas of Marion, Alan (Sally) Westmaas of McBain, Cynthia (Dave) DeRuiter of Lake City, and son in law, Mark Scholten of McBain. Her surviving grandchildren are, Danielle (Dan) Hoekstra, Katlyn Westmaas, Brandon (Demi) Westmaas, Jessica Westmaas, Ryan (Kimber) Westmaas, Rachel Westmaas, Melanie (Kyle) Schmid, Alyssa Westmaas, Kendra Westmaas, Christopher DeRuiter, Allison DeRuiter, Emily DeRuiter, Stevie Scholten, and Lucas Scholten. She also has 6 great grandchildren. The surviving siblings are, Joan Hamming of McBain, Fred (Alvis) Lucas of Caledonia, and Freda (Bruce) Eisenga of Marion. Henrietta has two in laws, Marvin (Char) Westmaas of Grandville, Evelyn Westmaas of Cadillac. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie (Westmaas) Scholten in Sept. of 2010, siblings, Jane (Harold) Quist and George Lucas, in laws, Maurice Hamming, Rich Westmaas, Evelyn (Hilbert) Benthem, Gertrude (Henry) Vanderveen, and Claressa (Sidney) Cnossen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Adam Barton officiating. Burial will take place in the Vogel Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain and an hour prior to the services on Friday.
