Shirley J. Vandenboss, age 85, of McBain, passed away at Autumnwood of McBain on Sept. 17, 2017. She was born on March 11, 1932 to Jim and Marie (Meyers) Davison in Butterfield Township. She married Peter Ernest Vandenboss on April 29, 1950 at the Vandenboss family home. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2013. She loved to feed people. Anytime you’d stop over she’d ask if you were hungry. It didn’t matter if you said no, she was going to feed you. Homemade chicken noodle soup was one of many specialties. She was known for telling fortunes by reading peoples cards. She loved to quilt. She became an ordained minister and performed many weddings. She had attended the Merritt School. Shirley is survived by six children, Peter J. Vandenboss of Falmouth, Terry Vandenboss of Lake City, Gary (Georgette) Vandenboss of McBain, Timothy (Frances) Vandenboss of McBain, Melody (Kevin) Erdmann of McBain, and Ann (Greg) Davis of Lake City. She leaves behind 13 grandkids, 27 great grandkids and 8 great great grandkids. The surviving siblings are Dory Salisbury of Owosso and Dorothy Jackson of Grand Rapids. The sisters in-laws are, Glennie Swan of Owosso and Marilyn Vandenboss of Climax, brothers in law, Dale Herrick of Auburn, Wisconsin and Sonny Genereaux of Grand Rapids. Many nieces and nephews, some who thought of her as their mom also survive. She was preceded in death by, her parents, husband, daughter in law, Rhonda Vandenboss, 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Butterfield Township Cemetery, Missaukee County. Dick Herweyer will officiate at the services.
