Duane Hilton Silvers

Duane (Duke) Hilton Silvers, of Cadillac, passed away at the age of 89 on September 14, 2017 at Samaritas Senior Living of Cadillac, with his family by his side. He was born August 3, 1928 Duane married Donna Lou Cotter on September 30, 1946 at the Cadillac Nazarene Church. Donna preceded him in death on July 3, 2016.
Duane had worked at Cadillac Malleable Company for many years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, riding his moped, doing woodcrafts, cooking and eating.
Duane is survived by five children; Toni (John) Uganski of Grant, Duane Nick Silvers Jr. of Cadillac, Teri (David) Dalton of Cadillac, Rick (Melissa) Silvers of Conroe, Texas and Tammi Morris of Grant, several grandchildren; Sonya (Chad) Prell of Muskegon, Charles (Robin) Prell of Ravenna, Suzanne (Nate) Prell of Muskegon, Nicole (Todd) Uganski of Grand Rapids, Denise (James) Williams of Republic, Missouri, Amy (Taylor) Kochosky of Naples, Florida, Matthew Dalton of Waterford, Mi) Daniel (Willow) of Manhatten, NY, Andrew Dalton of Frankenmuth, MI Stephen Dalton of Saginaw Mi, Elizabeth Dalton of Grand Rapids, Mi.,  Brandy (Chris) Lownes of Chapin, SC, Derek (Teresa) Silvers of Plano, TX,  and Danielle Morris of Grant, Mi. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, siblings; Kaye Dean (Karen) Silvers of Cadillac, Jack (Patty) Silvers of Lake City, Faye Rose of Southgate and Althea Olsen of DeWitt.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife Donna, his parents, two infant sons Nicky Duane and Eugene Alan, siblings; Pershing (Gwen) Silvers, Virginia (Frank) Valley, Bud (Doris) Silvers and Keith (Betty) Silvers, in-laws; Eudora (Lawrence) DuQuette, Dennis (Sadie) Cotter, Manley (Eleanore) Cotter, Virgil (Margaret) Cotter, Julia (Fred) Cook, R.B. Earl Cotter, Eloise (Ivan) Baker, Gloria (Glenn) Stockwell and Patsy (Richard) Homan.
Funeral services will be at Noon Monday, September 18 at Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Rev. Joel Hess officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

He was a pure joy . I only knew Donna and him for a short time but they made my life better.

I will always remember Uncle Duke...he has always been very kind to my mom (his sister Althea). Wasn't always able to spend time with him, but it was always a pleasure to see him when we had a chance to travel up North. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family during this time. Love, Joy
