Barbara Jean VanderVlucht

Barbara Jean VanderVlucht, age 76 of McBain, passed away at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City on July 20, 2017. Barb was born on December 3, 1940 at Gary, Indiana, to Harold and Florence (Conklin) Stock. She married Irving “Ike” VanderVlucht on July 3, 1982, in the backyard of Ike’s home north of Lucas. Barb is a member of the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church and had served as one of the greeters at the church. She had her beautician license, worked at Cadillac Art Gallery, and Bridal Expressions. She had been the bookkeeper for the family business. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, doing crafts, was an avid reader and enjoyed going to Florida for the winters. She was like asking Eloise because she could fix and do almost anything. She is survived by her husband: Irving “Ike” VanderVlucht of McBain, her children, Arron Kateznstein of McBain, Jerri Kateznstein of Cadillac, Dallas (Robyn) VanderVlucht and Dewey (Kim) VanderVlucht of McBain. There are three grandchildren, Justin VanderVlucht (Nicole Vanderhof), Joshua (Jessica) VanderVlucht, and Jacob (Kayle) VanderVlucht all of McBain, and one great granddaughter, Jaelyn VanderVlucht of McBain. Siblings surviving are Nancy Traver and Betty Stock both of Hartford and Sally Carlock of Dowagiac and one sister in law, Delores (Jerry) Campbell of Fairfield, Iowa. Many other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by, a grandson, Jared VanderVlucht and a son, Allen Kateznstein. Funeral services will be on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Rev. Adam Grill officiating. Burial will take place in the Lucas Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, from 1:00 P.M. to time of service at 3:00P.M. Funeral arrangements were made by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain.
